“Golfers Matinee”

“Is it a golfer?” My mother asked. I had shown her an image of the painting I was working on. Now, I looked at her, confused and asked what made her think it was a golfer.

“His cap. And that stick he’s holding looks like a club. Is it a golfer?” I paused for a moment and looked it over. Yeah, he looks like a golfer. That’s where the title “Golfers Matinee” comes from.

The inspiration for the piece came from a painting by Deigo Rivera; “Portrait of Ramón Gómez”. I didn’t achieve the fragmented chaos of the portrait, but I did use collage techniques I haven’t used in ages. I’m happy with the results and happy to add this as my first contribution to the Collab Lab Challenge!
