The Sound of Glaciers

I know it’s early but I’m traveling this month so I wanted to get this September one in before a hiking trip. Years ago my husband and I  traveled in Spring to the Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska and at night in a cabin miles from anyone we were awoken by the sound of nearby glacier ice shifting, melting and breaking. It sounded like a Giant moaning and groaning and slowly moving about, then moaning again. I’ll never forget it. In this watercolor and gouache, this poor giant is having to rest, finding his way home after too much drink, and he’s groaning the whole way.
