Don’t Fall For NFT Art purchase on Social Media
Recently, I’ve had a few comments on social media saying things like, “I love the pictures of your art, and they’re really good. You could make NFT’s from those. I want to buy some.” This is what I call predatory bullshit, don’t fall for it. They are capitalizing on all the NFT hype and trying to trick artists into giving their financial information. Here’s what they are looking for. Most artists are not bothering with NFT’s and honestly it’s all a little too complicated to deal with, so these scammers will approach you and offer to buy some NFT’s. When you say you don’t have any, they will offer to create NFT’s from your work for a small percentage. This is where it get’s interesting, they will say they have upfront cost (crypto gas charges) that you’ll need to cover, but they already have a buyer lined up so you will make your money back and then some. Obviously, this is a crock. Don’t fall for it and don’t even bother responding. Mark it as scam and move on.
