I am an abstract painter, specializing in acrylics on textured canvases. I came to the visual art world later in life by way of music, performing, and writing.  I’m a self-taught artist who fell in love with the medium by literally painting the walls of my house with invigorating and sensual treatments, my version of faux finishes.  I decided a few years ago to transfer that joy of painting onto canvases, and relatively quickly came up with a unique style that I am pleased to be identified with.  I am known for saying that I cannot draw a straight line, which is what brought me into abstracts.  Additionally, I have several unusual mixed media on canvas pieces.  I currently have approximately 250 paintings ranging in size from 5″x7″ to approx. 60″x60″.  I have been marketing my work through websites and social media.  Additionally, I have turned many of my works into products such as purses, silk scarves, high-heeled pumps, even facemasks, by partnering with drop-ship manufacturers.  My thinking is that not everyone has either the space or the inclination to display artwork, but my work translates into very cool material to make clothes and accessories out of.  Finally, I have a subset of work called “Team Spirit Reimaged” which is comprised of abstract works using the official colors of the SEC sports teams (and the Predators and Titans because, Nashville!).  The marketing idea behind that is, especially for women, they may love a school/team but are sick of wearing logos, so they can wear/carry the team colors in a more subtle and unique way.  I would of course expand to any conference/school/pro league that was interested.  That is my big dream, that a pro league would license my work for their own merchandise.  Until that happens, I am happy to continue to paint weird but cool art in my home studio.
